THE LIGHT BEARER

Only this place could give this.

Dense, generous, and yet so alive.
Château Berliquet 2025 bears the imprint of its three soils and the craftsmanship of those who tend them.
As if the plateau’s light had filtered through everything and kept only what mattered.

Dense without weight. Generous without excess.
A terroir that refuses to be anything but itself. ”

Act 1

The place

A small estate, apart from the rest.
Not a showcase. A workshop.
Here, we experiment, refine, begin again.
Craft is the only guide.
Precision, the only measure.

The kitchen cellar: small vats built for each plot.
Each soil speaks for itself, without being absorbed into the whole.
Every variety in its own voice.

That is Berliquet: a way of living, from the rows to the glass.
Ladybirds in the rose alleys.
Sunflowers in bloom.
Living things as method.

Act 2

The shadow

Pressure from early spring.
Wet skies. Teams on watch.
Then the heat. June, July, relentless.
Water scarce.
Summer concentrates. Berries stay small.

Three soils. Three responses.
The plateau holds, then gives back.
The clays reach deep.
The sandy ground heats fast, dries fast.
Less juice, but the yield holds.
The foliage stays green, proud, open to the air.
Freshness holds its ground.

Act 3

The light

The sun climbs. The sky deepens.
A stifling heat.
The clusters drink in the light, ray by ray.

July slips away. Véraison keeps its word.
The purple comes, unhurried.

By late August, the berries have found their colour.
Light has done its work.

Act 4

The gesture

Sugar rises in waves, plot by plot.
We don’t wait for the whole to be ready.
We move when each block is.
By hand, always.

Merlot, 3 to 5 September.
Cabernet Franc, the 16th and 17th.

Three soils. Two timelines. One principle: precision, always.
In the vat room, the first juices deliver what was hoped for.
Dense. Vivid. Direct.
The wine is there. Taking shape.
Exactly as hoped.

Act 5

The brilliance

A vintage of nerve and backbone.
The fruit leads. The plateau cuts clean.
Black cherry, plum.
Anise, spice. Assertive. Unmistakably itself.
It doesn’t spread. It drives.
Intensity that runs and runs, but never spills.
The tannins have grain. You feel them.
It pulses, it moves.
The acidity stretches. Lingers. Resurfaces.

A Berliquet in the image of its landscape: alive.
Sun-drenched.
